During this project, a disengaged group of secondary pupils took on daunting challenges and reframed how they perceived themselves at school and as learners.

By encouraging these pre-schoolers to learn from mistakes, be independent and try again, they displayed more growth mindset behaviours when they repeated fun activities.

This growth mindset project boosted confidence and resilience, but also led to improved attendance across all classes for the target pupils and reinvigorated teaching.

The enthusiasm of these S4 pupils for their growth mindset lessons, saw them become more confident, more resilient and begin to lead change across their school.

These S4 pupils used their improved mindset, knowledge and confidence to present to 300 of their peers at a school growth mindset assembly.

Building confidence during gymastics lessons using growth mindset

The aim of this research was to investigate if facilitating and allowing pupils to discuss and build their understanding about growth mindset improves their understanding and confidence in lessons, by increasing their engagement and desire to learn.

This Mindset in Education Professional Enquiry aim was to focus on raising attainment of a small group of pupils by addressing their engagement with their learning.

Having become more confident in my understanding of what growth mindset is and why it is vital to make a good learner, my aim was to create a classroom atmosphere which encouraged a growth mindset to bloom.
